World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021 – 18th to 24th November

The focus of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021 is ‘Spread Awareness and Stop resistance’ [1].

Significant progress has been made across the UK veterinary sector in recent years to reduce antimicrobial use – but, as an industry, we need to work together to further promote best practice.

Here at Nimrod, we play a vital role in using antimicrobials responsibly. As a veterinary pharmaceutical company, we have a duty to support vets in the proper use of antimicrobials in line with the EMA guidelines [2]. Our portfolio of products and support materials aim to ensure that veterinary teams are well informed and can make the best decisions for the animal whilst helping to reduce antimicrobial resistance. Our highly trained professionals are on hand to assist with any queries, and our Managing Director, David Renney, provides CPD on the use of antibiotics.

The links below highlight the importance of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021 and provide a tool kit for responsible use in veterinary medicine.

China – UK Collaboration to tackle antimicrobial resistance
Nimrod is a proud partner in the 3-year research Project with Nottingham University, the China National Centre for Food Safety and New Hope funded by Innovate UK to tackle AMR in poultry farming in China using machine learning and improving gut health. We need strong international collaboration between business, policy makers, and scientists to tackle this global problem.
